The aim of the Advocacy and Research unit is to develop strategic partnerships with key role players that can advance youth development, stimulate learning and information sharing amongst member organisations, the national office, collaborating partners in the SADC and CBO's. In order to achieve this, the following activities have been identified: - Host annual national Celebrating Young People
 - Host annual Youth Partners Forum
- Facilitate a National Youth Strategy
- Develop and maintain YDN website
- YDN Members Conference
- Develop YDN policy positions on key emerging issues
- Study visits by senior staff members to YDN member organisations
- YDN Newsletter (on programme learnings; twice yearly)
- Produce documentation on programmes run by member organisations
- Database of resources, expertise and results/impact within YDN
- Host/participate in an international exchange programmes
- Develop and produce three journals per year
- Develop and maintain donor information and report on donor trends in youth development
