Joint Enrichment Project, (JEP)



Our Vision:
JEP believes that young people have the inherent right to contribute to and be nurtured by South African society. JEP seeks to achieve a society, which recognizes and responds to the full range of needs and gifts of young men and women.

The vision and mission is achieved through focusing on three key strategic programme areas:
- Youth service within community development programme
- Advocacy and Knowledge Development Programme
- Training and Service Providers Programme


Our Mission:
The JEP’s mission is to harness the energy and leadership potential of young people so that they may become advocates of change within their community. By implementing an Integrated Approach the JEP believes that change will benefit the community and ensure that opportunities are created that meet the needs of young people and maximizes their gifts and talents.

Our Objectives:
- Research
- Development of policies and programmes
- Initiating and implementing pilot programmes
- Development of the Integrated Approach to Youth Development (IAYD) and
- Training of a range of service providers.


The Programs we offer:
The following JEP programmes are offered to:
- Young women;
- Youth in conflict with the law;
- Community based youth programmes
- Young people and enterprise
- Improving the culture of learning and teaching in schools by working with teachers, learners, school governing bodies and families
- Training service providers to young people to ensure effective, integrated delivery.


What we have already achieved:
JEP played a pivotal role in:
- The formation of both NYDCC and the NYDF and provincial representative youth structures in the early 1990’s that led to the formation of the National Youth Commission and the South African Youth Council;
- The formation of the National Youth Commission’s Green Paper on National Youth Service;
- The formation of the Youth Development Network and the SANGOCO youth Sector; and
- Piloting the first National Youth Service programme in South Africa.


Our Geographical Scope:
Young people from all over the country, with services running in the Greater Johannesburg and Gauteng area.
