Our Mission:
CEED is an organisation not for gain. Our Mission is to develop disadvantaged youth and rural women by educating, training and placing them in work and income earning opportunities, thus enabling them to become socially and economically viable.
Our Objectives:
- To build the capacity of young people through training in: life skills, business skills and technical training
- To support trainees before, during and after training
- To integrate gender issues into all programmes
- To lobby and advocate around youth issues
- To position youth issues at national and international level
- To network around youth issues
- To share and disseminate information
The Programs we offer:
CEED achieves its Vision and Mission through three main programmes:
- SMME and Buisnes Incubator Programme leading to a buisness incubator centre
- Computer and informaion technology leading to matric and college level
- Matric Programme
What we have already achieved:
- Establishment of the central project office in the Durban CBD
- Establishment and launch of a matric finishing school for young people who have dropped out of school or failed matric
- Employment of 25 full time and 25 part time programme staff
- Integration of HIV/AIDS and gender equity programmes
- Influential in the development of the Youth Development Network
- Increased the funding base and employment of new donors
- Trained 20 people in small incubation between October 2000 and September 2001, 66% of whom are females
- Established and developed buisness incubator programmes to incorporate the container services, which is fast-expanding initiative
-Computer and IT training has been a major achievement
Our Geographical Scope:
- Rural - outskirts of Port Shepstone, Empangeni, Maputoland
- Peri-urban - Umlazi, Molokai, Flowing, Mpumalanga, Lindeleni, Ntuzuma, Empangeni, Esikawini
